2011 Nov 18

Jessi McKenzie won first place for Guess Hue at the Coker College Art Club's 39th Annual Student Exhibition during the opening reception on Monday, Nov. 14, in the Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery of the Gladys C. Fort Art Building on Coker's Campus. McKenzie is a freshman from Hartsville, S.C.

"This annual show is highly anticipated by the Coker community as an opportunity to see a variety work by all art majors," said Professor of Art Jean Grosser.

The Art Club's Annual Student Exhibition is a competition that is open to all Coker students. It includes entries from both beginning and advanced students. The exhibition's judge is a professional artist from outside the art department. Lawrence P. Anderson, printmaker and Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at Francis Marion University, selected the art for this year's show and awarded prizes donated by art suppliers.

Established in 1908, Coker College readies undergraduates for personal and professional success through a distinctive four-year program that emphasizes a practical application of the liberal arts as well as hands-on and discussion-based learning within and beyond the classroom. Coker is ranked among the "Best Colleges" in the South by U.S. News & World Report as well as The Princeton Review. Located in Hartsville, S.C., Coker is within two hours of the cultural, financial and recreational resources of Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
