Contreras Completes Dean's Commendation Project

Senior Ericka Contreras, a communications major from Cassatt, South Carolina, has completed a Dean's Commendation project.

In order to apply for a Dean's Commendation project, students must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have completed 75 semester hours at Coker College. Students apply by submitting a project proposal to the Academic Standards Committee. If the Standards Committee approves the project, the students work alongside a faculty mentor to complete the project prior to graduation. Projects can be anything from an extended piece of scholarly research to a creative performance, an international experience, or a set of laboratory experiments. Contreras's research focuses on the effect that social media has on romantic relationships.

Contreras is a Resident Assistant, a World Scholar, an Ambassador, an intern for the Coker College Office of Marketing and Communications, a member of the Honors Program and the student representative for the Academic Standards Committee.
