Amanda McPhail Travels to Germany and Poland with Coker College Group

2011 Jul 6

Amanda McPhail of Irmo, S.C., recently participated in a study abroad trip to Germany and Poland led by two members of the Coker College faculty. Students on the trip studied the historical sociology of European cuisine by visiting markets and other cuisine-related businesses. They also expanded their musical listening and concert-going skills by attending performances and cultural events. In addition, students visited well-known holocaust sites to explore lesser known holocausts and visited various museums to gain an understanding of operating processes from marketing and advertising to exhibition development. McPhail graduated from Coker in May with a bachelor of arts and majored in art with a concentration in graphic design.

Established in 1908, Coker College readies undergraduates for personal and professional success through a distinctive four-year program that emphasizes a practical application of the liberal arts as well as hands-on and discussion-based learning within and beyond the classroom. Coker is ranked among the "Best Colleges" in the South by U.S. News & World Report as well as The Princeton Review. Located in Hartsville, S.C., Coker is within two hours of the cultural, financial and recreational resources of Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
